It's 1981 and you walk through the door at Star Worlds and hear The Vultan's Theme (Attack of the Hawkmen) and wonder where it's coming from? Then you hear this robotic voice say, "bon voyage" and notice a crowd of players next to Ms. Pac-Man playing a new game called Vanguard! You run up to the counter and buy some tokens so you can be the next to play Vanguard!
Centuri's Vanguard is now playing in the Vintage Vault. I've been looking for this machine for a few years now and stumbled upon one that's been tucked away for the past 18 years. With a little TLC, I got it up and going. Vanguard is one of the first video arcade machines that had speech as part of the sound. You move your fighter with a joystick through various tunnels and use 4 push buttons to fire up, down, left and right. Fly into Star Worlds and give it a play, it's sure to be a favorite soon after.
